The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning Released in the USMonday June 26 2006
Interview with John Welsh of Krome Studios - John says "the story of where he came from, of how he came to have such a friend as Sparx". If this is the story of were Spyro came from then it can't be entirely divorced from the original trilogy.Wednesday May 3 2006
New info: Team X-BoxPossibly Bad Stuff:
Chris Wolf, the new game's producer, says he will be "hitting the reset button on the series." This says to me they will be totally disregarding all existing Spyro games. Though some might wish some Spyro games never existed, you have to respect the originals, at least for their historical content.
According to Wolf, the game will take about 8-10 hours to finish. Crap! another short game!
I like:
Sparx, the trusty dragonfly who rides shotgun to Spyro, will have a different role in New Beginning. Instead of serving as Spyro's health gauge, he'll actually be a sidekick,
We know Sparx is there and It's good for him to have a bit more to do.

Spyro, Smarter than your average Dragon - CyberLearning Technology and NASA have developed brain training systems (Smart BrainGames) using standard PlayStation video game platforms. Among the games that work with the PlayStation system are all PS1 and PS2 Spyro games and most Crash Bandicoot games. The systems are nearly $600 and do not include games or consoles. I suggest when you have some spare time just play some Spyro games and assume your smarter for it.
Vivendi is not so Universal - What use to be know as "Vivendi Universal Games" has been reduced to simply "Vivendi Games".

The Legend of Spyro? - The name "The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning" is listed on ESRB as being rated "E 10+" for PS2, Gamecube and Xbox.It is also listed as one of VUGames Key 2006 products here.
Last but not least, VUgames had a page describing the game which has since been password protected. The description follows:
"Level Up to Feel the True Power of the Purple Dragon! The Legend of Spyro shifts in game design and now focuses on action/combat and character growth/customization. Unleash devastating fury attacks, new melee and aerial combo attacks or use one of Spyro's many new breath abilities to defeat foes. Feel the power of the purple dragon as players have the control to upgrade Spyro's breath attacks and moves to their liking. It's a new beginning with a storyline that will serve as a prequel to all of the existing Spyro titles, the narrative will explore Spyro's origin for the 1st time and the game includes AAA voice talent from Elijah Wood, David Spade and Gary Oldman."

Monday February 13 2006:
Another Year? Welcome to 2006. Last year we saw the release of Shadow Legacy and another phone game, neither was I able to play. Therefor there were not many updates to the site last year. I also find I have less time to work on it. I have tried to find ways to make the site profitable. If it were I could justify working on it more often.Failure to Communicate My contacts at VUGames have been more tight-lipped lately about Spyro games. The new Developers (Eurocom, Amaze) have not said anything at all. This has made the news somewhat dry lately.
To the Future? Spyro 6 is on the way, or at least IGN thinks so. Maybe we will hear something soon. I hope Eurocom will be developing it. Changing developers again so soon seem like a big mistake. It also seems quite likely since VUG has acquired a few new studios. I am not entirely optimistic about the future of this site or Spyro.
BTW If you are interested in the cellphone games Dark52 keeps tabs on them better than I.Thursday February 09 2006:
Spyro 6 listed on IGN - IGN has a game called "Spyro 6" listed for PS2, GameCube, GBA, and DS. The only other info is release dates:US: Q3 2006
Europe: September 30, 2006
A Hero's Tail plays without error on Xbox 360 - If you own, plan to buy or just follow the news for the Xbox 360 you probably know that it has limited backward compatibility with original Xbox games. There is a select list of games that Microsoft says are backward compatible and Spyro: AHT is on the list. On top of that IGN has confirmed that it plays without error. Of course they only played it for a few minutes.
