Enter The Dragonfly - General Tips
Enter the Drgonfly (logo)
The purpose of this page is to point out interesting features, strange bugs and funny happenings throughout the game. Some of these things are also known as 'Easter Eggs'. Each item is also mentioned on the page(s) for the appropriate level(s). The names of the levels link to their pages.

Spyro's face print - When Spyro does a head bash notice the picture on the ground. This does not happen on all surfaces.

Stuff to Flame:

Dragonfly Dojo - Baby Dragons
Crop Circle Country - Scare Crows
Cloud 9 - Potted Shrubs
Thieves Den - Thieves
Dragonfly Dojo - Seeing double - Walk off the edge of the first dojo into the water with the camera behind Spyro so that it is forced to look down on Spyro. You may see a double image of Spyro. Kinda weird.

Michael Dorn (Worf on Star Trek: The Next Generation) is listed under Additional Voices in the ending credits but not in the manual. He also did the voice of I Am Weasel. Well it turns out his part was cut. He was going to be a Dragon Elder

I thought you were dead? - If Sparx is gone and you talk to somebody he will show up green. This is just so he can be part of the conversation.

Demo Mode At the Press Start screen wait for the Dragonfly to fly by twice and then the demo Mode will start

  1. Dragonfly Dojo - Oasis Speedway timed challenge
  2. Crop Circle Country - UFO
  3. Crop Circle Country - Platforms (loading screen is for Cloud 9)
  4. Monkey Monastery - Spitfire
Bugs -
Random Freeze - Screen freezes, nothing moves, sound may continue.

I've had 4 freezes:
2 while charging. - (Dragon Realms, Jurassic Jungle)
2 when entering a level and screen just stays black but you hear some sound. - (Entering Cloud 9 and Dragon Realms)
Setting the Disc speed to fast seems to reduce the number of freezes on the US PS2 version.

Button Menu Freeze - Random button presses cause game to freeze while on the menu screen.
Make it happen - press START to open the menu. press the left and right buttons of the d-pad randomly and repeatedly (L,R,L,R,L,L,R,R,L,R,L,L,R,L,L,R,L,L,L,R,R,R,L,R,R,R,L,L,R,R,R,L,R,R,L,R,R,L,R,etc.) Eventually the game will lock up, usually within 20 presses.
Why it's a Problem - Doesn't sound like a big deal, just don't do that, right? The problem is that it shows that this game was not tested properly. This is what is call the "Cat on the Keyboard test" by some, one of the most basic and universal tests for any software. It is important that a program does not crash from random key presses. Players fidget with the controls, they enter codes, cats jump on the controller. Buttons should do what they are supposed to do and buttons that do nothing should do nothing, especially not lockup the game.

Poor control -

Controls Stop Responding - You may also get freezes while you are near another character(also Spyro may look like he is trying to walk somewhere on his own). This is due to the game trying to initiate a conversation but something is preventing it. Try pressing the Triangle button a few times. Or try START or SELECT. If you can get the menu try exiting the level. If you are in the Home world you Should save (to another file) and Quit. Sometimes the only option is to rest the system.

Textures missing -
Sound Loops -
Design Flaws -

Can't Flame - In the PlayStation games Spyro can flame while in a whirlwind and while zoomed in using the triangle button. He cannot in this game.

Gems - Some of the yellow gems are worth 25 instead of 10

Professor's Voice - In Luau Island you will here what sounds like the Professor saying "hmmm" and "ah-ha!" like in Spyro 2. You will never find him in this level. This is just a case using poor judgment while reusing sound FX.
