Velvet Octopus Pulls the PowerPoint - If you go to the velvet Octopus site now you will see they corrected the 'SPYRU' error and no longer have the PowerPoint to download. That's Ok, if you want it email me and I can send it to you.
EB games Lists next LOS game - This is a few days old but EB Games is listing "Legend of Spyro: Darkest Hour" for PS2, PS3, DS and Wii for release on 10/7/08 except for the Wii version which "Usually Ships in 24 hours"!? Has anyone tried ordering this? I'm sure they will notice their error in a few days.
Personally I hate the title.

Spyro Movie and Game update - VelvetOctopus finally has a page up for Spyro and well... it's kinda short on info about the movie; nothing more than "From the producer of Eragon", which we already knew. There is however a downloadable powerpoint file full of Spyro propaganda and statistical malarkey, but it contains the following fact about the upcoming game:
The Legend of Spyro: Part III (final title TBD)
- First appearance on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360
- Epic culmination of "Legend of Spyro" storyline
- Spyro finally faces the Dark Master
- Fly at any time - first free flight in a Spyro game
- Co-op play with Cynder (female dragon)
- Global release Oct/Nov 2008
I have have one question: will it also be on PS2? At this point I am in no position to shell out $400 for a PS3 or a Wii, or even $300 for a 360. Well maybe there will be a GBA version.
Oh well, check out the pics.

P.S. When you click on the link above check out the title bar of the window. Who is SPYRU?Thursday January 24 2008
Check Six disappears off the face of the web... sorta - The last remnants of the creators of Enter the Dragonfly seem to have disappeared. Soon after the release of ETD the official Check Six Studios website "checksixstudios.com" shut down. However, for the past few years there was a prototype site for the company at "global.xyzdns.net/~checksix". Just this month it seems to have also disappeared. Searching the web there are no references to any Check Six Studios activity after Enter the Dragonfly, but there are several companies and web sites that use the name Check Six, none of which appear to be related to Check Six Studios.
Check Six and their sister, Equinoxe, (who disappeared long ago), were always elusive and never responded to my emails. I did however hear from Artem who worked on the water effects on ETD as an outside contractor.

Velvet Octopus - I sent an email to Velvet Octopus to tell them about the dead information link. I got and email on Monday that it "will be back up tomorrow". Today the link is totally gone. So I guess there is no further information at this time.
UPDATE: A further email explained that they are working on getting the link up.

Spyro Movie News - There have been rumours about a Spyro movie for years, including vague comments from the publisher, listings on "coming soon" lists and fans trying to make their own. Now there may be a good chance the rumours are true.
First is the listing on IMDb which mentions "Animation Picture Company" (wow, creative name) who made and is making, a couple straight to video Garfield Movies (Yikes!), But I guess you gotta start somewhere.
DSfanboy and IGN reference an article from Variety which says the movie will be based on the Legend of Spyro series. The script will be written by Steve and Dan Altiere who wrote the 4th Dr. Dolittle Movie: "Dr. Dolittle: Tail to the Chief" (There were were 4 of them?). That would be the 3rd sequel to the Eddie Murphy "Dr. Dolittle" that doesn't even have Eddie Murphy in it. Not the classic Rex Harrison "Dr. Dolittle" from 1967.
And finally there is Velvet Octopus (An original name, but also kinda creepy) who has what might be our first screen shot from the movie; a tiny little picture of what looks like a teenage Spyro. VO is a movie sales company and may be the most professional people involved with this as they are headed by the former head of sales for Icon Entertainment and Capitol Films. Unfortunately all links to supposed "Further Information" are totally dead at this time.
With Spyro's movie career in "capable" hands I put more faith in the fan community to come up with something...

The Fernley Flood - What does this have to do with Spyro? Nothing, except for the fact that it happened in my city and it came right up to my door. We didn't have any damage but hundreds of other houses were damaged. Thank God nobody was killed and, no major injuries.

Today most of the Flood water is gone and people are cleaning up. I would like to encourage everyone to see what you can do to help your neighbors when disaster strikes. And always pray for those in the midst of troubles.
Thank You

Happy New Year! - Last year we had the release of the second game in the LOS series with a promise of a 3rd on the way. The movie rumour has been strengthened with actual press mentions and names given. And Spyro Universe sat in disrepair for most of the year. For the last 2 months I have been trying to finish up the long overdue update. First I have been trying make the site XHTML 1.0 compliant, of which it is quite close now. You may have noticed brighter, sharper images as I have been switching most of the graphics to higher quality versions and have added several new images. Also the advanced site now opens in a larger window, making more content visible at a time.
I've added a few more ads and updated their look. I have tried to keep the ads as unobtrusive and relevant to Spyro fans as possible. They not only serve the purpose of making me a small amount of money but hopefully they help you find what you are looking for.
The final thing I would like bring up is the The Legend of Spyro. It does seem that LOS takes place in another universe, with another Spyro, but an idea brought up by jamieque on the official boards keeps sticking in my head. He proposed that LOS happens in the ancient past of the original series. I have been thinking about placing it about 1000 years before the banishment which would make the lands seen in LOS part of The Forgotten Worlds. Essentially the Spyro of LOS would be an ancestor of the original Spyro. If anyone is still reading this, tell me what you think.
