Stay at the bottom and use bombs on the column of energy deal.
Watch the flying bat fish things. some are more solid than others. Shoot one of those and Ripto will try to blast you with his shield. avoid it and shoot him while he is vulnerable.
after 2 shots Gulp shows up, all he is is something else to avoid. Stay at the bottom in the middle of the screen and watch for the "real" fish.
