Ripto's Rage Walkthrough - Fireball Walkthrough
Ripto's Rage Walkthrough
Ok, so you've defeated Ripto, collected all 14 Talismans, 64 Orbs and 10,000 Gems. You've got the Permanent Super Fire Ball Power-UP, completed all 16 Skill Points and viewed the epilogue and extinct creatures of Avalar. You won all 10 tokens and reviewed all the movies in the Dragon Shore Theatre. You've even went on a site seeing expedition to see the Great Walls of Bryan, Brenda's Doors, and the rare coins featuring Dan. So now what?!

Let's do it all over again but this time with the Permanent Super Fire Ball Power-UP (PowerFlame).

To start a new game with the fireball just load a game in which you have already obtained the permanent fire ball. Make sure you are in one of the 3 home worlds. Press 'START' to bring up the menu and select 'Quit Game'. You will be brought back to the startup screen. Start a new game and when you get to Glimmer you should have the Permanent Super Fire Ball Power-UP.

Now for some tips. You will notice most of the game is much easier. The only down side is that the fire ball is not as wide as your normal fire breath. You may find yourself missing targets at close range. But it more than makes up for it in power and distance. You can even 'snipe' targets from a distance by using the triangle button to aim.

Enemies - You can take out any enemy, except bosses with one blast of the firball. You no longer have to charge anybody. Gems - You can open vases, strong boxes and target boxes with the fireball

Now we will go though an abridged walkthrough just to point out some of the things you can do with your new weapon.

Glimmer - You can actually finish this level the first time through or you can get through it without paying Moneybags but NOT both. Get all the gems and enemies in the first area. Get all the enemies in the cave and all the gems you can. Don't forget below the bridge or the enemies across the bridge. You should have defeated 12 enemies and you only need 10 to activate the superfly power up. From the platform behind Moneybags you should be able to shoot all 6 Gem lamps. When you do you will be transported up to Roo the Gemcutter and the superfly power up. He will give you the orb. Get all the gems up there. Use the power-up to fly across to the high platform and get all the gems. Walk to the other end and drop down to the Cave exit. Go through the tunnel to Twitchy to get the talisman. Do the outdoor gem lamp challenge and get the rest of the gems. Now is the time to choose:

A: I really want to finish the level before I get to Summer Forest - Go talk to Bounsa and do the Lizard Hunt. To do the Lizard hunt you need to go back through the cave with Moneybags and once you drop into the pit under the bridge you can't get out of this level without paying Moneybags. Why? 1. The Exit Level command doesn't work until you get to SummerForest. 2. The Gem Lamps in the cave will not reset until you leave and come back.

OR

B: I really don't want to pay Moneybags - Exit the level through the Portal. Watch the movie. Now go back in to Glimmer. Pick up any gems you missed. Get at least 10 enemies. Do the Cave gem lamps. Fly to get out of the cave. Now do the Lizard Hunt and when you get the orb use Exit Level to avoid paying Moneybags.

Lizard Hunt - Don't bother picking up the rocks. The fire ball has greater range so you can hit the lizards from almost anywhere. The fireball shoots straight so you can aim for the lizard and not above the lizard. You can fire many times in a row without reloading.

Idol Springs - You can do the Hula Girl challenge without using the SuperCharge. Just normal charge around and blast the pedistals as you come to them.

Hurricos - You can destroy the big windmills and the strong box without using the Supercharge Powerup

Sunny Beach - Open the Turtle boxes and the strong box as you go.

Aquaria Towers - Destroy the seaweed as you go to get a Skill Point. Don't pay Moneybags for the sub but be careful when facing the sharks. Blast the chests without bothering with the power-up. You can skip many of the enemies since you don't need the power up.

Speedways - You can get some targets from a distance to improve your time. The narrow shot of the firebal will become quite obvious in the speedways.

Crush's Dungeon - Not much of an advantage but you can hit him from a distance if your aim is good and quick.

Fracture Hills - blast all the Earthshapers

Magma Cone

Shady Oasis - Snipe the thieves

Gulp's Overlook - Don't bother using the dropped weapons just blast him quickly with the fire ball to defeat him and get the "Perfect" Skill Point. You might take a shot at Ripto while your there for a Skill Point.

Ripto - You can quickly blast his first 2 forms but the third will be no easier than usual.

Dragon Shores - Hit the target on the dunking booth without picking up the ball.
